Main Article Content
Abstract
This community service program aims to enhance the literacy culture at MI Al Hikam, Geger District, Madiun Regency, through teacher mentoring in implementing the Morning Literacy Program. The background of this activity lies in the low reading and writing interest among elementary school students and the lack of optimal integration of literacy activities into the learning process. The implementation method employed participatory, collaborative, and educational approaches through several stages: needs analysis, planning, teacher training, practical mentoring, and evaluation with reflection. Strategies included learning by doing, mentoring, and utilizing local potential as reading materials and literacy media. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ reading interest, writing ability, and critical thinking skills. Teachers became more creative and reflective in managing contextual literacy activities, while the school successfully built a literate learning ecosystem through daily reading routines. Socially, the program also raised awareness among parents and the community about the importance of literacy as part of the learning culture. Therefore, this mentoring activity contributes to developing students’ reading habits, critical thinking, and competitiveness, while strengthening teacher professionalism and fostering collaboration between schools and the community.
