Islamic Law, Muhammad Shahrur, PolygamyAbstrak
Polygamy is a man who has more than one wife. In Islam, it is emphasized that the number of wives for a man is a maximum of four people. The provision of this number is almost agreed upon by all scholars, except for a handful of different opinions such as those expressed by Ahlu Shi'ah and Ahlu Dzohir. On average, classical scholars only require "being able to act fairly" for husbands who want to practice polygamy. However, it is different with this one figure, namely Muhammad Shahrur. This research is a type of normative research with a library approach. The data source in this study is the work of Muhammad Shahrur himself as primary data. His work is entitled "Al Kitab wa al-Qur'an: Qira'ah Mu'ashirah" and "Nahw Usul Jadidah li al-Fiqh al-Islami". Based on the Research Results, Shahrur uses the Tafsir Tahlily/Analysis Method to interpret the polygamy verse. He emphasizes linguistic studies. This method has various types of dishes that emphasize the interpretation, namely Linguistics, Law, Socio-Culture, Philosophy/Science, Knowledge, Sufism/Isyary, and others. According to the interpretation method that has been agreed upon by scholars, Shahrur's interpretation is not justified. Because important indicators were found to be ignored, such as sabab an-nuzul, and others, resulting in his confused thinking.
