Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism involves the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, or creative work without proper acknowledgment, and presenting them as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbatim copying of text without quotation marks and citation
- Paraphrasing significant portions of another work without acknowledgment
- Using data, images, tables, or figures without proper citation
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one's own previously published work without disclosure or citation)
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to Opinia De Journal are subject to plagiarism screening using Turnitin software prior to the peer review process. The editorial team reviews the similarity report carefully to determine whether the content constitutes unethical copying or is within acceptable academic standards.
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
The maximum allowable similarity index is 20%, excluding references, quotations, and bibliography. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold or containing significant uncited copying will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity.
Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage (before or after publication), the following actions may be taken:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article
- Notification to the author(s)’ affiliated institution(s)
- Prohibition of future submissions by the offending author(s) for a specified period
- Public notice of retraction on the journal's website (if post-publication)
Author Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for the integrity and originality of the submitted manuscript. By submitting their work to Opinia De Journal, authors affirm that the manuscript is free from plagiarism and has not been published or submitted elsewhere
